The EU plans to ban any transactions with cryptocurrencies related to Russia

New restrictions may facilitate the emergence of new participants in the market

According to information published by the Financial Times and reported by TRT, the European Commission plans to impose a ban on any cryptocurrency transactions involving Russia.

The article clarifies that such strict measures against cryptocurrency service providers may contribute to the emergence of new companies in the market.

The document states: "To ensure the effectiveness of sanctions, the [EU] prohibits any interactions with cryptocurrency service providers, as well as the use of platforms that allow the exchange and transfer of cryptocurrencies created in Russia."

For the new sanctions to take effect, the consent of all EU member states is required. However, as FT reports, three out of the 27 countries in the bloc have expressed their doubts and requested more information on this issue.
