Pensioners in Kyrgyzstan: half of the pension for utilities, 150 soms a day for food

Not enough money for medicine and clothing

Despite the recent increase in pensions, most pensioners continue to face financial difficulties. This was reported by readers of the editorial office.

“Even having our own housing in Bishkek, we spend half of our pension on utilities. With the remaining money, we only have 150 soms a day left for food. How can we survive in such conditions? There is simply no money for medicine and clothing,” they share their concerns.

According to the Social Fund data, after the pension increase on October 1, 2025, the average pension in the country amounted to 11,226 soms.

At a nationwide meeting on February 27, 2026, Deputy Prime Minister Edil Baisalov reported that there are no pensioners in the country receiving less than 8,000 soms per month.

The total number of pensioners in Kyrgyzstan is 816,600.
