During the discussions, key topics such as the restoration of a fully functioning dispute resolution system and increasing transparency in the WTO's activities were addressed. Conference participants emphasized the interests of landlocked countries and also touched upon issues related to agriculture and e-commerce. Maksutov highlighted Kyrgyzstan's position, noting the importance of equal dialogue for small developing economies in the context of growing geopolitical tensions and rising protectionism. He also noted that the WTO, based on clear rules, continues to be an important tool for ensuring stability and predictability in global trade flows.
The Kyrgyz Republic expressed support for strengthening the regime of special and differential treatment, as well as expanding technical assistance programs for resource-constrained countries. Maksutov emphasized that it is extremely important for Kyrgyzstan to restore effective mechanisms for protecting interests and peacefully resolving trade conflicts on the international stage.
As a result of the conference, a draft Ministerial Statement on WTO reforms was discussed. The Kyrgyz Republic supported this document and the accompanying Work Plan, characterizing them as a balanced compromise. Although the draft did not fully reflect all national priorities, it became an important basis for further reform of the organization. Nurbek Maksutov confirmed Kyrgyzstan's commitment to the principles of transparent and inclusive international trade.
