Uzbekistan is getting rid of junk cars. Will Bishkek follow this example?
Starting from February 1, 2026, new rules will be introduced in Uzbekistan that completely prohibit the operation and re-registration of cars older than 50 years. This initiative was announced by the Ministry of Justice of the country, and old cars will be forcibly removed from the state register. Additionally, specialized license plates will be introduced for categories such as heavy machinery, quarry vehicles, legal taxis, and certified antiques. Car registration will become fully digital:
