In his speech, Kasymaliev noted that Kemelbek Nanaev's contribution was key to forming the financial and economic foundation of independent Kyrgyzstan.
Under his leadership, the national currency – the som – was successfully introduced in 1993.
According to the Cabinet, it was Nanaev who became the founder of the National Bank and independent monetary policy, which was extremely significant for the young state. His work as Minister of Finance from 1994 to 1996 led to important reforms: the establishment of the State Treasury, the debt management system, as well as the formation of the government securities market and the adoption of the first Tax Code in the history of Kyrgyzstan.
Adylbek Kasymaliev noted that thanks to the strategic initiatives of Kemelbek Nanaev, the foundations of financial stability were laid, budget transparency was ensured, and a modern structure of public financial management was created.
Speaking about Nanaev, Kasymaliev emphasized that his acquaintance with him provided the opportunity to see that he was not only an outstanding reformer and statesman but also a talented scholar, a wise educator with a high level of culture and deep civic responsibility.
In conclusion, he added that the name of Kemelbek Nanaev will forever remain in the memory of the people as one of the founders of the financial and economic system of independent Kyrgyzstan.
