At the ceremonial event dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Kyrgyz National University named after Jusup Balasagyn, the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Adylbek Kasymaliev was present. This was reported in a press release from the Cabinet.
During the celebration, Kasymaliev awarded the Order of "Manas" III degree to Rector Dogdurbek Chontoев. This award was given to KNU by the decree of President Sadyr Japarov for his outstanding contribution to the development of education and science, as well as for preparing qualified personnel for various sectors of the country.
Before the official part of the event began, guests were able to familiarize themselves with an exhibition prepared for the university's anniversary, after which a film and a theatrical prologue dedicated to the institution's history were shown.
In his speech, Kasymaliev congratulated the teachers, students, and alumni on behalf of the president and the Cabinet of Ministers, noting the important role of the university in the formation of the Kyrgyz intelligentsia.
He emphasized that KNU has become the "cradle of the Kyrgyz intelligentsia," where outstanding individuals received their education, including five Heroes of the Kyrgyz Republic, two Heroes of Labor, eleven academicians, more than forty People's poets and writers, sixteen People's teachers, and one Olympic champion.
Among the notable alumni of the university are Kasym Tynystanov, Alykul Osmonov, and Turdakun Usubaliev.
The head of the Cabinet of Ministers also noted that KNU became the foundation for the establishment of all subsequent higher educational institutions, research institutes, and the National Academy of Sciences of Kyrgyzstan, becoming a flagship of higher education in the country.
He added that in the international QS ranking, the university ranks 1234th in the world, 381st in Asia, and 25th among universities in Central Asia, which is a significant achievement for the education system of Kyrgyzstan.
Kasymaliev noted: "The Kyrgyz National University is a source of knowledge, inspiration, and spiritual revival for the people. However, we cannot stop here."
After the official part, awards were presented to university staff who made significant contributions to the development of education and science in the country.
