According to the information from the first deputy minister of health of Kazakhstan, Timur SultanGaziev, there are currently about two million reported cases of infection in the country, as reported by IA "NewTimes.kz".

He also reported that the number of beds for patients has been increased to 12,000, but the occupancy rate is only 66%, and for children's beds, it is 74%.

“There were problems with beds two weeks ago, but in a short time, we attracted additional doctors and increased the number of beds. Filters have been opened in clinics, there are now more than 800, and the flows of pregnant women and children are separated,” he added.

According to the deputy minister, the situation in educational institutions is also concerning:
“More than 800 classes have been switched to remote learning, affecting about 250,000 children.”

SultanGaziev reminded about the recommendations established by the chief sanitary doctor, including the possibility of wearing masks in public places.

“It is recommended to wear masks to protect against viruses,” emphasized the first deputy minister.

During a meeting of the Mazhilis, Timur SultanGaziev stated that there are currently no plans to introduce a mandatory mask regime in the country.

Previously, in the capitals Astana and Almaty, there was a rapid spread of an unknown virus among children, which led to an increasing number of young patients with pneumonia symptoms being admitted to hospitals.
