The Ministry of Education of Kyrgyzstan has summarized the results of the first year of the transition to the new 12-year school system.

The agency reported that this large-scale reform aims to reduce the burden on students and develop essential skills, taking into account the age characteristics of children.

As part of the new state standard, 21 educational programs have been developed, and 105 professional development programs for teachers have been updated.

In more than 50,000 schools across Kyrgyzstan, teachers have undergone training in the new standards and modern methods, including updated textbooks and revised approaches to student assessment. Training is conducted in both online and offline formats.

In 2025, significant progress has been made in providing textbooks. The volume of printed educational and methodological sets has reached a record in recent years, with 856,548,703 soms allocated from the state budget for printing. Over 8 years, 3,742,461 textbooks have been published, and this year it is planned to release 4,084,870 sets.

One of the priorities has become the digital development of education. Currently, 98.6% of state and municipal schools have access to the internet. The implementation of automated information systems, such as "Kundolük," "Mughalim," "Mektep infrastrukturası," "Mektep," and "Sanarip attystat," has significantly reduced paperwork and made education management more transparent.

Moreover, inclusive education continues to develop. The establishment of the online school "Tunguch" this year has opened access to the Kyrgyz educational program for children abroad, as well as for those who require special attention. Currently, 47 teachers in the online school are educating 2,375 students across all subjects.

“One of the key aspects of the changes is the safety of students. Out of 2,394 schools in the country, video cameras have been installed in 1,848 (80%) of them. Work in this direction continues, with active participation from law enforcement agencies,” the agency's statement said.

Issues related to school nutrition are being addressed gradually. The republican budget allocates 14 soms per day for each student, while in Bishkek and Osh, 22 and 15 soms are allocated, respectively.

Currently, there are 2,394 schools operating in Kyrgyzstan. Out of 2,101 state and municipal schools (91.5%), hot meals are organized. In 2025, 540,023 primary school students received hot meals, with funding for this program amounting to 1.3 billion soms.

Kyrgyz schoolchildren have also demonstrated success in international olympiads in mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, and computer science, winning one gold, three silver, and 21 bronze medals, as well as 11 certificates of honor.

As part of the "Altyn Kazyq" program, the school infrastructure is actively developing. Since the beginning of 2025, the construction of 52 new schools and the major renovation of 39 existing ones, funded from the republican budget, have been completed. Additionally, 14 schools have been built from other funding sources.

Summarizing the first year, the Ministry of Education emphasizes that the transition to the 12-year education system is a long-term process aimed at improving the quality, accessibility, and sustainable development of education in the country.
