Currently, 52 students from Kyrgyzstan are receiving education under the 'El Umutu' scholarship program. Deputy Prime Minister Edil Baisalov shared this information at a republican meeting taking place at 'Yntymak Ordo'.
According to him, this program was initiated and supported by the president of the country with the aim of identifying and supporting talented youth, as well as preparing qualified specialists for the further development of the republic.
The scholarship holders are currently studying at various prestigious universities around the world, including Ivy League institutions such as Harvard and Columbia University, as well as Stanford, Oxford, Cambridge, the University of Birmingham, the National University of Singapore, and Seoul National University.
Edil Baisalov also noted that when he worked as an ambassador in the UK, he did not encounter students from Kyrgyzstan at these prestigious educational institutions, unlike students from neighboring countries.
“Today, the situation has improved. In universities like Harvard, Stanford, Oxford, and Cambridge, there are 3-4 of our compatriots studying. They are truly talented young people who will be able to make a significant contribution to the development of our country in the future,” he added.
The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that the 'El Umutu' program is an important step in forming a new generation of specialists who will represent Kyrgyzstan on the international stage and work for its benefit.
It should be noted that a republican meeting is currently taking place at 'Yntymak Ordo', dedicated to summarizing the results of 2025, with the participation of President Sadyr Japarov.
Members of the Cabinet of Ministers, heads of state institutions, authorized representatives of the president in the regions, mayors of Bishkek and Osh, as well as district akims are also participating in the discussion.
