Salyjan Kylchbekov, a scholar of the international program "El Umutu," shared his experience studying at Oxford on the air of Birinchi Radio. He noted that this scholarship provides unique opportunities for talented youth.
The initiator of the presidential scholarship "El Umutu" was the President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov, in 2022. He proposed to establish a fund that would help gifted youth receive education at leading universities in the world through state funding.
According to Kylchbekov, the scholarship allowed him to realize his dream and study at one of the most prestigious universities.
“To be admitted to a university like Oxford, one needs not only knowledge of the language but also a whole range of other factors: deep knowledge and talent in various fields. For example, applicants from other countries often receive significant support from their parents and the state. Many of them grew up in families of scholars and are familiar with the basics of science and technology from an early age,” Salyjan explained.

Today, Salyjan plans to develop a startup and contribute to the development of the technological ecosystem in Kyrgyzstan. He also noted that the younger generation shows interest in sports, which is very important. However, in his opinion, it is also necessary to develop the youth's interest in startups, the economy, and technology, as significant opportunities are opening up in these areas, which in turn can contribute to the economic growth of the country.
