On the air of "Birinchi Radio," orthopedic vertebrologist Abai Niyazbekov expressed serious concern about people turning to bone setters and healers for back pain.

The specialist noted that many patients, when faced with problems in the back or neck, first seek help from representatives of "traditional medicine." However, when their condition worsens, they come to doctors. "Unfortunately, it is difficult for us to convey to people that they should avoid visits to bone setters. They usually say that there has been a displacement and assure that it has been corrected. But this is a misconception. Restoring a displaced vertebra that has caused chronic pain is very difficult, and even surgically it is not always possible. With my ten years of experience, I cannot determine the presence of a displacement by touch; an X-ray is needed for that. Therefore, it is extremely important not to consult bone setters or folk healers," Niyazbekov explained.

He also shared a recent case: "A week ago, a patient came to us who had previously consulted a bone setter. As a result, he lost the ability to walk. He had severe pain in his back and leg. We conducted an X-ray and discovered a fracture of the femur. The bone setter, it turns out, pressed so hard that he broke the hip. Now the patient requires surgery to treat the fracture. Such cases are not uncommon," the doctor added.
