"Kidney Stone Disease is Getting Younger and Often Can Go Unnoticed, - Urologist"
Kidney stones refer to the presence of stones in the urinary tract, such as the kidneys, ureters, and bladder.
Niyazov explained that the kidneys serve as a filter for the body, removing toxic substances through urine. When there is an excess of salts, heavy metals, and other components in the urine, these substances can crystallize, leading to the formation of stones.
The main factor contributing to this disease is a metabolic disorder. There is also a possibility of hereditary predisposition.
According to the urologist, the "youthing" of the disease is linked to an unhealthy lifestyle: many people do not monitor their diet, do not drink enough water, abuse spicy and salty foods, and lead a sedentary lifestyle.
Among the symptoms of kidney stones, the following can be highlighted:
- renal colic;
- sharp pain in the lower back;
- presence of blood in the urine;
- signs of cystitis.
In case of sharp and severe pain, one should immediately seek medical attention. Treatment depends on the size and density of the stones, the doctor clarified.
Niyazov added that if stones have already formed in the kidneys, the likelihood of their recurrence is high. However, this can be prevented through preventive measures:
- ensure adequate water intake — preferably 2-2.5 liters of filtered, non-hard water per day;
- avoid carbonated drinks and energy drinks;
- do not exceed the daily intake of meat products;
- limit the consumption of foods rich in calcium and phosphorus;
- increase the intake of foods containing citrates, such as lemons.
