According to him, while previously such complaints were more common among elderly people, now an increasing number of young patients are coming in with neck pain. This, in the specialist's opinion, is related to excessive dependence on gadgets. Incorrect posture, such as a forward-leaning head while working at a computer, creates additional strain on the cervical spine. The intervertebral discs, which provide nourishment to the vertebrae, begin to suffer, leading to stretching and the formation of hernias, especially after the age of 25-30.
Niyazbekov emphasized that the nerves that exit from the cervical vertebrae go to the arms. This can lead not only to neck pain but also to numbness in the fingers. "We do not take enough care of our health and do not pay attention to physical activity. This often leads to initial problems, and unfortunately, people seek medical help only when the situation becomes critical," the doctor noted.
He also pointed out that neck pain can be the first symptoms that are followed by headaches due to the compression of blood vessels.
"The vertebrae are not designed to hold the head in a tilted position. The neck should be in a vertical position. The intervertebral discs, which are cartilaginous structures, lose their elasticity and can rupture, leading to more serious problems such as 'shooting' pains in the arms, numbness, and muscle weakness. If this is ignored for a long time, muscle atrophy may occur," Niyazbekov explained.
The specialist recommended that those whose work involves prolonged computer use take regular breaks to relax and engage in physical activity, such as going to the gym or swimming, which will positively affect the overall condition of the body.
The doctor also warned against self-treatment, including massages and manual therapy, as this may exacerbate existing problems.
