Constant manifestations of weakness, drowsiness, and dizziness are often attributed by people to stress or fatigue. However, as reported by the Mandatory Health Insurance Fund, the cause of these symptoms may be a low hemoglobin level, known as anemia. The importance of timely diagnosis is emphasized by the agency, as this can help avoid serious health problems.
Every citizen of the Kyrgyz Republic has the right to a basic package of medical services, including a complete blood count to determine hemoglobin levels, even if they do not have insurance status.
To undergo the test for free, the following conditions must be met:
- be registered with a Family Medicine Center (FMC) or a General Practice Center (GPC);
- consult your family doctor;
- obtain a referral for laboratory tests.
If all these conditions are met, the test will be performed free of charge.
The Mandatory Health Insurance Fund noted that having a mandatory health insurance policy significantly increases access to medical services. Insured citizens can take advantage of:
- over 40 additional types of laboratory tests, including biochemistry and hormonal analyses;
- discounted medications with discounts of up to 50%;
- instrumental studies, such as ultrasound and X-rays;
- other services under the State Guarantee Program.
If you are denied a free test or have questions about obtaining a discounted prescription, you can contact the FOMS hotline at 113 — the call is free. Specialists will help clarify your insurance status and explain the process of obtaining a mandatory health insurance policy.
