On March 25, a meeting was held at the National Historical and Archaeological Museum Complex "Sulaiman-Too" in Osh, where plans for the comprehensive reconstruction of this cultural heritage site were discussed.

Attending the event were the Minister of Culture, Information and Youth Policy Mirbek Mambetaliev, the leadership of the Agency for Public Development and Investments (ARIS), representatives of the local mayor's office, staff from the Ministry of Culture, as well as heads of museums and other institutions.

The main focus of the meeting was on the reconstruction project of Sulaiman-Too. ARIS representatives noted that the technical and economic justification (TEO) and the preliminary design project have already received approvals from the Ministry of Culture, UNESCO, and the World Bank. "Currently, work on the project is ongoing. It will be implemented in two phases: first, the TEO and design and estimate documentation for the infrastructure will be prepared, and then the design of the museum exhibition and interiors," explained a representative of the agency.

The project is divided into 12 sections and three phases.

The first phase includes the construction and repair of golf carts, restoration of the Burkiya mausoleum, reconstruction of the Water Gate arch, as well as monuments from the late Bronze Age and the road to the Uykur Museum. The launch of construction work is scheduled for April 30, when the tender will take place.

The second phase includes the restoration of the mountain gates, fire gates, mountain road, as well as the administrative building and ethnographic museum. The tender for the start of this work is set for June 1.

Mirbek Mambetaliev suggested not to divide the work into phases, but to carry them out simultaneously. "Is it possible to close Sulaiman-Too during the reconstruction to complete all the work at once, without dividing it into phases?" he expressed his opinion.

UNESCO representatives noted that it is possible to close only those areas where work will be carried out, not the entire territory. "If we close everything, then no one will be able to enter," clarified a representative of the organization.

The minister emphasized the importance of safety and proposed temporarily closing the area to complete the work. "Funding of 12 million dollars has been allocated for the project. The working project is ready, I ask the Ministry of Construction to expedite the preparation of documentation. We could complete all the work at once," he added.

The mayor of Osh, Janar Akayev, suggested changing the route for tourists so that golf carts are not used only for short distances. He proposed creating a route that completely circles Sulaiman-Too. "The discussion of this project has dragged on for seven years. If we do not take decisive action, the process will be delayed even further. We can use this opportunity to complete the work and begin road construction with the involvement of funding," noted the mayor.

The Minister of Culture supported this initiative, adding that the project has significant potential and requires active work to complete it.

As a result, it was decided to continue working on the project taking into account the proposals and opinions of all participants. It is expected that the reconstruction of Sulaiman-Too will begin in the coming months, and all necessary steps will be taken to expedite the completion of the work.
