In the village of Kara-Kabyk, located in the Kashka-Suu rural district of the Chon-Alai region, there is the pasture of Tulpar-Chapchy, surrounded by numerous legends explaining its mysterious origin. Local elders share various stories full of enigmas.

On this pasture, there is a lake into which no rivers flow, and from which no rivers exit. There are several versions regarding its appearance, and some are convinced that the name of the pasture is related to this body of water.

According to elder Kökön Ali Bekov, he knows two legends concerning this lake. "When the Prophet Muhammad was on his steed [tulpar], the horse became very tired and wanted to drink, but there was no water source nearby. As a result, it struck the ground with its hoof, and a crack formed at the point of impact, from which water flowed. Some claim that the water appeared when the Prophet uttered a prayer wishing for well-being [‘duba’]. This water has healing properties: if wounds appear on the skin, they can be washed with it, and they will soon heal. There are many sacred places around the lake. Previously, a river flowed next to the lake, but it disappeared. After that, I gathered the locals, and we held a prayer at this site. The place where people worshipped was fenced off, but the fence quickly fell apart. With the onset of warmth, I plan to return and restore it," says the elder.

It is also noted that some residents and tourists sometimes confuse this pasture with the Tulpar-Köldü area, which is located in the Alai region. However, both areas have similar legends about their origin.

The legend of Tulpar-Köldü tells of a poor man who had a horse that a local wealthy man had set his eyes on. He demanded that the poor man give him the horse. Not agreeing, the poor man jumped on his steed at night and rode away. The next day, while stopping to rest, they were caught by the wealthy man's men, who brutally beat the poor man. At that moment, the steed lay down next to its owner, who soon jumped back on it, and they continued their journey. On the slope of a mountain, the tired steed struck the ground three times with its hoof, and a spring emerged at that spot.
