Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, in his video address to the participants of the fifth Stratcom summit taking place in Istanbul, highlighted a serious legitimacy crisis affecting the international system. According to him, “the system established by the victors of World War II is currently experiencing deep distrust in many areas. The main institutions, rules, and values that form its foundation are losing their relevance and functionality.”
Erdoğan emphasized that the modern world is facing severe challenges, as power competition encompasses areas such as energy, technology, and trade. Problems are increasingly being resolved through conflicts rather than peaceful negotiations, leading to a rise in genocides and wars. “We must put an end to tragedies like those in Gaza and restore peace, stability, and tranquility, especially in our region,” he noted.
The president expressed Turkey's intention to continue taking active steps aimed at protecting humanitarian values and justice. “We need to strengthen communication and cooperation mechanisms to counteract distortions of facts and false narratives,” he added.
In this regard, Erdoğan called on all international forces, including states, academic circles, and civil society, to take more active initiatives.
The head of state assured that Turkey is ready to mobilize all its resources to ensure peace and security both in its region and at the global level.
Erdoğan also congratulated the Directorate for Communications of the Turkish Presidency on successfully organizing the summit, which expands its scope and influence each year.
He expressed hope that the discussions taking place over the two days, covering topics from diplomacy to global climate governance, will yield beneficial results for humanity.
The president thanked the summit participants for their ideas and proposals that they will contribute to the discussion.
The Stratcom summit gathered representatives of international organizations, diplomats, and experts to discuss key issues such as “The Gap in the International System: Crises, Narratives, and the Search for Order.” Participants will consider the future of the international order and strategic communications, as well as methods for managing global crises.
