Parents reported to a Turmush correspondent that their children are forced to stay in cold corridors at the infectious disease hospital in Osh.

“The number of sick children has significantly increased. Due to a lack of space in the wards, we had to stay in the corridor. In the evening, the temperature there becomes very low, and we lack warmth. Sick children may not only fail to recover but also worsen their condition,” shared one mother.

As noted by Kursanali Tashov, the head of the Osh City Infectious Disease Hospital, there has been a sharp increase in the number of patients recently.

“Our city hospital is primarily intended to serve the residents of the city. However, we also accept severe patients from nearby areas. The children's department has 180 beds, and currently, there are more than 50 children in the hospital. We have added extra beds, and the corridors are heated. If there is not enough space in the wards, we place children in the corridors, and then as beds become available, we transfer them back. At night, newly admitted patients temporarily stay in the corridor, and during the day, they are sent to the wards,” he explained.

Tashov also noted that many children are currently in serious condition. Due to the lack of space in the children's department, planned hospitalizations in the adult department have been temporarily suspended. Today, 270 children with respiratory illnesses have approached us. In one ward, 4–6 patients are accommodated,” he added.
