The Minister of Health of Kyrgyzstan, Kanbek Dosmambetov, met on January 16 with the Ambassador of Turkey to Kyrgyzstan, Mekin Mustafa Kemal Okem. The meeting discussed issues of cooperation in the healthcare sector, including mechanisms for sending citizens for free treatment in Turkey, as well as the development of medical infrastructure and human resources.

Dosmambetov expressed gratitude to the Turkish side for their support and contribution to the development of medical cooperation, noting the strategic importance of interaction with Turkey.

“On behalf of the ministry, I would like to thank the Turkish authorities for their active work and support. Turkey is our reliable partner in the field of medicine. We strive to expand cooperation, especially in the area of free treatment for our citizens, improving the qualifications of medical specialists, exchanging experiences, and implementing joint projects. In Kyrgyzstan, under the instruction of President Sadyr Japarov, the healthcare system is actively being modernized, and we are open to new technologies and methods,” he added.

The Turkish ambassador confirmed readiness for further cooperation, including organ transplant operations at the Kyrgyz-Turkish hospital named after Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, organizing internships for Kyrgyz specialists in Turkey for periods of 3 to 6 months, joint educational and pharmaceutical projects, as well as effective use of quotas for treating Kyrgyz citizens in Turkish clinics.

As a result of the discussions, the parties agreed to intensify work on sending Kyrgyz citizens for treatment in Turkey through annual free quotas, which amount to 150 places: 100 of which are allocated through the Turkish embassy, and 50 through the Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan.

Issues of training personnel were also discussed: the Kyrgyz side is interested in internships not only for transplant surgeons but also for specialists in oncology, cardiac surgery, and other complex medical fields. The possibility of creating a joint pharmaceutical production and technological support was also considered.

During the meeting, the minister also expressed interest in studying the operational models of multidisciplinary medical institutions in Turkey to apply successful practices in Kyrgyzstan. He noted that a medical town is currently under construction, which requires studying modern approaches to the design and management of medical complexes.

The minister emphasized that President S. Japarov pays special attention to the modernization of the healthcare system, the introduction of modern technologies, the improvement of specialists' qualifications, and the expansion of international cooperation, which creates the necessary conditions for systemic transformations.

The meeting concluded with a confirmation of the mutual interest of both parties in deepening cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Turkey at a systemic level.
