The formation of a healthy society became a key topic of the meeting between the Ministry of Health and the UN

A meeting took place in Bishkek between Kanaybek Dosmambekov, the Minister of Health, and Antje Grave, the UN Resident Coordinator in Kyrgyzstan.

During the discussion, Kanaybek Dosmambekov thanked the UN for its ongoing support in reforming the healthcare system, noting the importance of UN agencies' participation in the development and implementation of the National Action Plan aimed at health security, public health legislation, and programs that ensure equal access to medical services.

The Minister highlighted the main priorities of the new leadership of the Ministry, emphasizing the shift in focus from treating diseases to creating a healthy society.

Among the priority tasks, he mentioned the prevention of non-communicable diseases, promotion of a healthy lifestyle, strengthening immunization, protecting maternal and child health, reducing maternal mortality, epidemiological monitoring of infections, and reforming the healthcare system.

The necessity of developing digital technologies in healthcare was also emphasized, such as electronic medical records, telemedicine, and the establishment of a situational center for rapid response.

Kanaybek Dosmambekov expressed interest in receiving support from the UN to equip medical institutions with modern equipment, expand internship programs for medical workers abroad, and exchange best international practices.

Antje Grave, in turn, confirmed the UN's readiness to continue and deepen cooperation with the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic. She noted that Kyrgyzstan participates in a global digital transformation program supported by the UN and expressed readiness to assist in the areas of digitalization, immunization, maternal and child health protection, reproductive health, and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

The parties discussed plans for the strategic development of the UN system for 2026–2027 and the preparation of a new five-year framework document for the period 2028–2032, emphasizing the importance of the Ministry of Health's active participation in defining the priorities for joint work.

At the end of the meeting, the participants expressed their interest in strengthening partnerships and continuing coordinated efforts for the sustainable development of healthcare in the Kyrgyz Republic.
