In 2025, a rise in maternal mortality was recorded in Kyrgyzstan. Minister of Health Kanaybek Dosmambetov instructed to develop a comprehensive set of measures related to the increase in this indicator, reports the Ministry of Health.

In the current year, 48 cases of maternal mortality have been registered, which corresponds to 34.8 per 100,000 live births. This is a 35.4% increase compared to the previous year, when 36 cases were recorded (25.7 per 100,000).

At the final board meeting dedicated to the results of 2025, the minister characterized the deterioration of the situation as a "serious signal" requiring immediate management decisions. He instructed to prepare the relevant set of measures as soon as possible, within a week.

Dosmambetov emphasized the importance of revising antenatal care standards with a focus on quality, integrating digital technologies between primary healthcare facilities and hospitals, as well as implementing strict routing for pregnant women, especially from high-risk groups. Additionally, he instructed to activate telemedicine consultations and implement prenatal screening, as stated in the report.
