On March 19, 2026, a meeting took place in the Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan between Minister of Health Damir Osmonov and Liu Jiangping, the Ambassador of China to Kyrgyzstan. This was reported by the ministry.
During the meeting, the current state and future of Kyrgyz-Chinese cooperation in the field of medicine were discussed. Minister Osmonov expressed gratitude to his Chinese colleagues for organizing the meeting and emphasized the high level of bilateral partnership based on respect and strategic interaction.
The parties noted that cooperation in the field of health care between Kyrgyzstan and China is carried out within the framework of an agreement between the Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan and the National Health Commission of China, and is also supported through the intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation and within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
Damir Osmonov highlighted China's significant contribution to the development of health care in Kyrgyzstan, which includes humanitarian aid, the supply of medical equipment and medicines, as well as educational programs for Kyrgyz doctors in Chinese medical institutions.
During the negotiations, Chinese initiatives aimed at improving interaction were presented. In particular, the project "Express Health - Bright Journey" was discussed, which provides for free ophthalmic surgeries for people with cataracts and continued assistance for children with congenital heart defects.
The parties also discussed the possibility of cooperation with the People's Hospital of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, including the organization of mutual visits and the creation of joint medical projects, including a joint hospital.
Special attention was paid to the establishment of a Kyrgyz-Chinese research center for traditional medicine and the development of cooperation in the field of pharmaceuticals and the use of medicinal plants.
At the end of the meeting, both sides confirmed their readiness to continue strengthening bilateral relations aimed at developing medical infrastructure, improving the quality of medical services, and expanding access for the population to modern medical technologies.
