The UN named the reasons for hunger in the world

In a recent interview with RIA Novosti, Oleg Kobyakov, the Director for Relations with the Russian Federation at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), noted that the global community is facing a serious hunger problem that remains unresolved. The main factors contributing to this include armed conflicts, natural disasters, and economic crises.

Kobyakov emphasized: "Unfortunately, we must acknowledge that the world is unable to cope with hunger... The primary causes remain armed conflicts, natural disasters, the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, and other geopolitical and economic shocks, which have, in particular, led to an increase in food inflation."

According to his estimates, in 2024, between 638 and 720 million people will suffer from hunger, which is about 7.8 - 8.8% of the total global population, or one in every 11-12 inhabitants of the Earth.
