The Senate of Kazakhstan postponed the discussion of the draft law on the promotion of LGBT at its plenary session. Only two issues were considered in the new order — changes to legislation on subsoil use and administrative justice.
The draft law titled "On Amendments and Additions to Certain Legislative Acts on Archival Affairs and Restrictions on the Distribution of Illegal Content" was mentioned in the context of the need for a more in-depth analysis, as noted by Maxim Spotkay, head of the Senate's apparatus, in an interview for the BES.Media portal.
This draft law, which was reviewed by the Mazhilis in November, included provisions on the prohibition of the promotion of non-traditional sexual orientation.
