The convicted individuals included eight men and two women, aged between 41 and 65. The court noted that the defendants used "particularly derogatory and malicious" comments regarding rumors about Brigitte Macron's transgender identity, including claims that she was allegedly born a man.
The defendants were also accused of publishing "numerous malicious comments" that alleged a connection between the First Lady and pedophilia, which was linked to the age difference between her and her 48-year-old husband, French President Emmanuel Macron.
During the court hearing, Brigitte's youngest daughter, Tiphaine Auzière, noted that such false claims had negatively impacted her mother's health. "She constantly has to monitor her appearance and behavior, as she is aware that her image can be distorted," Tiphaine shared. She added that this has also affected the entire family, including the grandchildren.
The prosecution insisted on imposing suspended sentences ranging from three to 12 months for the defendants, as well as fines of up to €8,000. The most severe measures were requested for three participants, whom the prosecution characterized as "instigators." Among them is 41-year-old writer Aurélien Poirson-Atlan, known by the pseudonym "Zoe Sagan" and connected to conspiracy theory circles. In addition to him, the group includes 56-year-old Bertrand Scholler and 51-year-old Delphine Jégouss, known as a medium under the name "Amadine Roua."
