As reported by Paris prosecutor Laure Becco, the Louvre robbery was carried out by residents of the suburbs. In particular, all four arrested and charged with this crime lived in Saint-Denis, an area known for its troubled environment. This information was provided by Le Parisien.

Laure Becco noted that this is not a typical crime for the upper echelons of organized crime, although it poses a serious threat. "This is not a petty, everyday criminal environment, but it is not comparable to the higher echelons of crime," she added.

During the investigation, three men and one woman were detained, two of the men having a criminal history related to theft.
The Paris court on November 2 charged two more suspects — a 38-year-old woman from La Courneuve and a 37-year-old man. Both deny their involvement in the robbery, and the woman's role remains unclear.

Just two weeks after the robbery, French police arrested seven people, three of whom were released without charges. The prosecution reported that at least one person is still wanted. The other two detainees are a couple whose DNA was found at the crime scene, including on the cradle that the robbers climbed. The 37-year-old man, who worked as a driver, was charged with theft, while his 38-year-old partner was charged as an accomplice, despite not being in the Louvre at the time of the incident. The prosecution believes that the theft was committed by ordinary criminals rather than members of organized crime.

So far, the stolen jewelry has not been found.

It should be noted that the robbery occurred early in the morning on October 19.

As a result of the incident, nine pieces of 19th-century jewelry were stolen, including the crown of Empress Eugenie, which was damaged during the robbers' escape (the crown was later found). The list of stolen items also includes a necklace of emeralds and diamonds, given by Napoleon to his wife, Empress Maria-Louise, as well as a diadem that once belonged to Empress Eugenie, adorned with nearly two thousand diamonds, and a necklace of the last queen of France, Maria Amalia, containing eight sapphires and 631 diamonds.
