A woman, in the late stages of pregnancy, was hospitalized with a blood alcohol level of nearly three promille. This significant amount led to the birth of a child in a state of intoxication, as reported by the Polish newspaper Fakt.
Doctors deemed it necessary to perform an emergency cesarean section, as such a level of alcohol posed a threat to both the mother and the fetus. After birth, doctors recorded more than 1.5 promille of alcohol in the newborn's blood, which is extremely dangerous for infants' health.
The child's condition was stabilized. Criminal proceedings have been initiated against the mother, threatening her with imprisonment for up to five years.
