Lavrov stated that the US has abandoned the 'Anchorage principles' in negotiations on Ukraine

In an interview with the international network TV BRICS, the minister emphasized that Russia was ready for the US proposal regarding Ukraine, but now they are showing no willingness. “In Anchorage, we agreed to the proposals of the United States… Now they are not ready for dialogue,” Lavrov noted.

The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry also added that Moscow sought broad, mutually beneficial cooperation with Washington, but instead faces new sanctions and delays of its tankers in international waters. Lavrov characterized this as a violation of the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea.

The minister expressed the opinion that the US is trying to limit India and other partners from purchasing cheap Russian energy resources, while Europe has long been prohibited from doing so and is forced to buy American liquefied natural gas at inflated prices. “The Americans strive for economic dominance,” he stated.

The first round of trilateral security consultations between Russia, the US, and Ukraine took place on January 23-24, and the second on February 4-5 in Abu Dhabi. The Russian delegation was headed by Igor Kostyukov, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, while the Ukrainian delegation was led by Rustem Umerov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council. According to TASS, it will take at least 1.5 months to agree on a peace agreement regarding Ukraine.
