Mass Protests Against Labor Reform Took Place in Argentina
According to Reuters, after more than 13 hours of discussions, the Argentine Senate approved an important package of labor reforms (42 votes in favor, 30 against). The main changes concern the liberalization of labor legislation, including new rules for hiring and firing, as well as restrictions on the right to strike with a requirement to ensure a minimum level of services in the event of a work stoppage. The bill is now headed to the lower house of parliament.
As reported by the Associated Press, the protests were triggered by public dissatisfaction with the reforms, which many believe will worsen working conditions.
