The incident occurred on the Izmir-Istanbul highway around 1 AM local time. After the plane crashed, a massive fire broke out, and debris was scattered over a significant distance. According to the Ministry of Defense, the fighter jet disappeared from radar at 12:56 AM, and communication with the pilot was lost. During the search and rescue operation, the wreckage of the aircraft was found; unfortunately, the pilot did not survive.
A special commission has been established to investigate the causes of the crash, as reported by the defense ministry.
