Kazakhstan and TurkPA discussed reforms and inter-parliamentary cooperation

During the meeting, Ramil Hasan emphasized the importance of constitutional reforms being carried out in Kazakhstan, noting that they are significant not only for this country but for the entire Turkic world. The Secretary General reported that TurkPA will participate in monitoring the upcoming constitutional referendum, which will take place in three cities — Astana, Almaty, and Turkestan.

Additionally, Hasan shared the outcomes of a recent visit by the TurkPA delegation to Vienna, where the 25th winter session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly was held. During this visit, meetings were held with delegations from Turkic states, and the procedure for applying for observer status for TurkPA at the OSCE PA was successfully completed.

For her part, Aigul Kuspan spoke about the planned changes in the new parliamentary system of Kazakhstan, expressing confidence that they will lead to increased accountability and effectiveness of the parliament's work.

Kuspan also highlighted the importance of TurkPA's participation and the involvement of representatives from member states as international observers in the constitutional reform process, emphasizing that their presence will contribute to the transparency and openness of this process.

The parties discussed the need to finalize the improvement of TurkPA's legal documents during Kazakhstan's chairmanship, and also underscored the significance of the informal meeting of the heads of parliaments of TurkPA member states, scheduled for April in Istanbul.
