In a statement from the Israeli military, it is emphasized that a group of Iranian specialists was "secretly working on the development of an important element for the nuclear arsenal" in this underground facility.

So far, there has been no reaction from Iran or the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to Israel's statement.

Since February 28, Israel and the United States have continued to attack Iranian military and nuclear infrastructure, as well as government institutions. U.S. President Donald Trump previously stated that one of the goals of these operations is to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons.

According to information from Reuters, commercial satellite images have been released showing the aftermath of the first strike on the Iranian nuclear underground facility in Natanz since the beginning of the conflict. The strikes are believed to have occurred on March 1-2.

The IAEA confirmed that several buildings in Natanz were damaged as a result of the attacks. However, the agency reports that no radiation consequences are expected, and no significant damage to the facility itself has been recorded, although it had already sustained significant damage during shelling in June 2025.
