The Turkish Ministry of Defense has reported that on March 13, a missile launched from Iran was intercepted by NATO's air and missile defense forces located in the Eastern Mediterranean. According to the Turkish military, all necessary measures to protect the country from potential threats are being taken "swiftly and decisively," Anadolu and Reuters report.

Turkey is in negotiations with Iran to clarify all the details of the incident. According to Reuters, Ankara is seeking to avoid involvement in a broader conflict related to Iran.

This is already the third case of intercepting an Iranian ballistic missile over Turkish territory this month, with similar incidents occurring on March 4 and 9.

Some Turkish media outlets, including the publication Savunma Sanayi, suggested that the target of the missile could have been the Incirlik Air Base in Adana; however, this assumption has not received official confirmation from the Turkish Ministry of Defense. In connection with the incident, Anadolu reported that sirens were activated at the Incirlik base.
