
According to information from MiddleAsianNews, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia, Batzetsgeg Batmunkh, participated in the Second World Summit on Nuclear Energy, which took place on March 10, 2026, in Boulogne-Billancourt.

This event, jointly organized by France and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), became an important platform for discussing issues related to the role of nuclear energy in combating climate change and reducing carbon emissions. Representatives from governments, industry, the scientific community, and NGOs discussed funding for energy initiatives, technological innovations, safety, standards, and international cooperation in the areas of inspection, fuel supply for small modular reactors and nuclear power plants, as well as workforce training for the industry.
On Tuesday, March 10, the French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Jean-Noël Barrot, met with Batzetsgeg Batmunkh at the nuclear energy summit. This was reported on the official website of the French ministry.

During the discussion, the ministers touched upon the development of bilateral relations that strengthen the sovereignty of both countries in the fields of energy, transport, and civil protection. They also spoke about the upcoming signing of an agreement to establish AFD, which will allow France to begin supporting common priorities.

Both ministers reaffirmed their commitment to sustainable and responsible development, especially in the context of the 17th Conference of the Parties to the Convention to Combat Desertification (COP17), which will be held in Ulaanbaatar from August 17 to 28, 2026. During the meeting, they also discussed Mongolia's participation in the upcoming "One Health" summit in Lyon.
Mongolia joined the discussion by signing the Declaration on "Affordable and Safe Nuclear Energy for All" and the Joint Statement on Financing the Nuclear Sector.
