During the meeting held on March 7, the ministers discussed both regional and global events, including ongoing armed conflicts and recent military actions in neighboring regions that lead to humanitarian crises and casualties among the population.
The ministers expressed their concern about the increase in violence in the Middle East and condemned actions that threaten the lives of civilians and destabilize the situation in the region.
They noted that any security threats to the member states of the CSTO are a concern for the entire organization, emphasizing the inadmissibility of the use of force and the necessity of adhering to the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Particular attention was paid to attacks directed against Turkey and Azerbaijan, including strikes on civilian infrastructure. The ministers called for preventing the recurrence of such incidents that could exacerbate regional tensions.
The statement confirmed that the CSTO supports the sovereignty and security of both countries, expressing solidarity with their peoples and governments.
The ministers emphasized the importance of peaceful conflict resolution through dialogue within the framework of international law and the UN Charter. They noted that diplomacy and constructive dialogue are key to de-escalation, conflict cessation, and achieving peace, urging all parties to exercise restraint and engage in good faith negotiations.
The joint statement also highlights the global consequences of the current crisis, emphasizing that prolonged instability in this strategically important region could threaten international peace and security, including disruptions in global energy markets and migration flows.
The ministers reaffirmed their commitment to a fair and lasting resolution of the Palestinian conflict based on the two-state principle in accordance with UN resolutions, as well as their intention to continue cooperation on international platforms to achieve this resolution and provide humanitarian assistance, especially in Gaza.
Reaffirming their commitments to the UN Charter and international law, the ministers expressed the CSTO's readiness to support all sincere international efforts aimed at restoring peace and stability in the region.
Furthermore, they agreed on the necessity of careful monitoring of the situation and maintaining active coordination within the CSTO on issues of common interest. The ministers reiterated their support for peace, dialogue, and stability.
