According to the Daily Express, during hearings in the House Intelligence Committee of the U.S. Congress on March 19, Gabbard emphasized that it is currently unclear who makes decisions in the Iranian leadership.

However, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated the day before in an interview with Al Jazeera that Mojtaba Khamenei has only minor injuries and is in "good health."

Mojtaba Khamenei, the second son of the late Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has spent most of his life in the shadows, rarely appearing in public or leading Friday prayers. During the Iran-Iraq war, he served in a battalion of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. At 56 years old, he is known for his hardline conservative views.
