In his message on the Truth Social platform, Trump sharply criticized NATO for its members' refusal to participate in a joint military operation aimed at unblocking the Strait of Hormuz. He characterized the alliance as a "paper tiger" and pointed to the unwillingness of allies to support U.S. actions following the military campaign against Iran. According to Reuters and AP, he also called his partners "cowards."

Trump emphasized that without U.S. participation, NATO would not be able to act effectively, especially in light of the allies' refusal to confront Iran. At the same time, he noted that they continue to complain about rising oil prices while being unwilling to participate in unblocking the strategically important Strait of Hormuz.

This strait represents a critical point in the global conflict, through which about 20% of global oil supplies pass. Its potential closure has already negatively impacted global energy markets, leading to a sharp rise in oil prices and restrictions on the operations of shipping and insurance companies in the region.

U.S. allies had previously shown restraint to Washington's requests. Germany expressed the view that "this is not their war," France refused to participate "in the current context," and Japan does not plan to send its forces to escort vessels. Nevertheless, several countries, including the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, and Japan, have expressed a willingness to help ensure safe shipping, but only on the condition that hostilities cease.

Trump has already warned that if allies do not assist in unblocking the Strait of Hormuz, NATO's future could be "very bad." According to information from AP and Axios, after the refusal of most allies, the White House began considering the possibility of unilateral actions by the U.S.
