Minister Boris Pistorius refused to support Donald Trump's call to send military ships to the Strait of Hormuz to ensure the safety of shipping. This was reported by Reuters.

Pistorius noted that Germany does not intend to participate in the conflict and continues to hope for diplomatic ways to resolve the situation. He also emphasized that the responsibility for protecting NATO's eastern flank and the Atlantic primarily lies with Germany, and the current events in the Strait of Hormuz are not a conflict initiated by Germany.

According to Reuters, several U.S. ally countries, including Japan, Australia, Italy, and Greece, have also declined to participate in such a mission or have not confirmed their readiness. The United Kingdom stated that it does not plan to become more deeply involved in the conflict but is open to discussing measures to assist in ensuring security in the strait in cooperation with partners.

Earlier, Trump called on countries that depend on oil and gas imports through the Strait of Hormuz to send their ships to support U.S. military forces. Among the countries mentioned were China, the United Kingdom, France, Japan, and South Korea.

Amid the escalating situation, the price of oil exceeded $100 per barrel, and the Strait of Hormuz has become a key topic in discussions about energy supply security on the international stage.
