Mongolia intends to import oil from Kazakhstan

Cooperation between Mongolia and Kazakhstan is actively developing in the field of energy and mining

At a meeting between the Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources of Mongolia, Damdinnyam Gongor, and the First Deputy Minister of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan, Aizhan Adilovna Bizhanova, the prospects for expanding bilateral relations were discussed. This event took place ahead of the anticipated state visit of the President of Mongolia, Khurelsukh Ukhna, scheduled for April, reports MiddleAsianNews.


The agenda included issues related to cooperation in the exploration and extraction of minerals, as well as in the oil and gas sector and nuclear energy. Mongolia proposed a long-term agreement to Kazakhstan for the import of crude oil and petroleum products.

Kazakhstan supported this proposal, and the parties also discussed joint actions in the processing industry, including gold refining. As a result of the meeting, a memorandum of understanding was signed, which formalizes the agreements reached.

The outcome of the meeting was the signing of a memorandum of understanding, which opens up prospects for diversifying Mongolia's energy supply and increasing capacities in energy resource processing.
