According to the latest data, the price of A-95 gasoline has risen to 28.88 lei per liter, which is 0.41 lei (+41 bani) more than the day before. In turn, the price of diesel fuel has reached 29.81 lei per liter, increasing by 0.60 lei (+60 bani).
Diesel fuel continues its journey toward the psychological barrier of 30 lei ($1.7) per liter, with an increase of more than 1 lei in recent days. Gasoline is also becoming more expensive, but at a more moderate pace.
The main reasons for this increase are related to the rise in global oil prices, caused by geopolitical instability in the Persian Gulf, as well as the overall increase in fuel prices according to Platts.
Authorities have noted that the state regulation mechanism is functioning: prices are tied to real stock exchange quotes and cannot rise without control. However, if the trend of rising oil prices continues, retail prices in Moldova are likely to soon cross the 30 lei mark.
The Ministry of Energy and ANRE urge drivers to plan their trips rationally to avoid panic at gas stations. The country has sufficient fuel reserves, and there is no shortage observed.
If the current trend continues, diesel may exceed 30 lei per liter for the first time since 2022 as early as next week.
