On March 16, the price of gasoline and diesel fuel on the St. Petersburg exchange set new records for the current year, as reported by Lenta.ru.
The price for AI-92 gasoline increased by 2.02% to 66,514 rubles per ton, while AI-95 rose by 1.63%, reaching 70,074 rubles. Summer diesel fuel also increased by 1.84% to 64,619 rubles. Such figures were last observed in October of the previous year. Since the beginning of the year, prices have risen by more than 15%.
Experts had previously warned of a potential significant increase in prices for summer diesel fuel in Russia due to the delayed onset of spring and planned repair work at oil refineries (ORFs). Additional risks are associated with potential drone attacks, which could negatively affect supply.
Nevertheless, Russian producers have doubled diesel fuel exports to Brazil. In February, under the conditions of an import ban on petroleum products from Russia imposed by the European Union, supplies to this South American country amounted to 680,000 tons. This is 68% more compared to last year.
