Chinese airline launched direct flights between Shanghai and Tashkent

The passenger flight MU6037, which was the first in this direction, landed in Tashkent on March 30 at 18:00 local time, carrying 265 people. Traditionally, the plane was greeted with a water arch, and on the same day, a ceremony was held for the registration of the first passengers flying from Tashkent to Shanghai.

Flights will be operated on an Airbus A330 four times a week: on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. The flight time will be approximately eight hours.

Previously, China Eastern Airlines also opened a route between Xi'an and Tashkent.

With the increasing demand for flights, which has been observed after the introduction of a visa-free regime between Uzbekistan and China starting June 1, 2025, citizens of both countries can visit each other without a visa for up to 30 days per trip, with a total stay not exceeding 90 days within a 180-day period. The new rules do not apply to labor activities, studies, work in the media, or trips to Hong Kong and Macau.
