President of Russia Vladimir Putin signed a decree that cancels visas for citizens of China until September 14, 2026, as reported by RIA Novosti.
According to this decree, based on the principle of reciprocity, Chinese citizens will be able to visit Russia without a visa for up to 30 days. This rule will apply to those arriving for tourism, business purposes, or to participate in scientific, cultural, socio-political, economic, and sporting events. There is also a provision for transit through Russia with a regular passport of a Chinese citizen.
However, it is important to note that this measure does not apply to those intending to live in Russia, work, including in journalism, or receive education. Furthermore, the 30-day visa-free regime will not be applicable to drivers of international freight transport, crew members of vehicles, and translators accompanying them.
The decree came into effect upon its signing.
