The National Research Center for Infectious Diseases (NRCID) reported on Monday that the total number of measles fatalities in the country has risen to 17 after two new deaths occurred in the last 24 hours.
Additionally, the NRCID confirmed two more cases of measles, bringing the total number of infections since the outbreak began 407 days ago to 14,562.
Experts from the NRCID urged everyone who has not yet been vaccinated to do so as soon as possible to protect themselves and their loved ones.
Measles is a highly contagious viral disease that spreads through respiratory droplets and direct contact. The main symptoms include fever, dry cough, runny nose, sore throat, and eye inflammation. Vaccination is an effective preventive measure.
