In New Zealand, a 32-year-old man has been charged with theft after swallowing a Fabergé pendant. This was reported by The Guardian.
The pendant, featured in the James Bond film "Octopussy," is made of 18-carat gold and adorned with green guilloché enamel. Inside, there is a miniature octopus made of gold with black diamonds for eyes. Additionally, the pendant is set with 60 white diamonds and 15 blue sapphires, and its value is estimated at $19,200. The jewelry has not been recovered at this time.
According to Gray Anderson, head of the central district, employees of the Partridge Jewellers store in Auckland reported that the man swallowed the pendant after taking it.
“Patrol officers from central Auckland arrived at the scene within minutes and apprehended the suspect right in the store,” he added.
As a result, the man was charged with theft and taken into custody.
