According to the human rights organization "NeMolchi," the tragedy occurred in the family home when relatives gathered to celebrate the girl's birthday.
The victim's mother contacted the "NeMolchi" foundation on the night of April 6, 2025, immediately after the incident, while taking her daughter for a medical examination.
The foundation expressed gratitude to the investigators, the prosecutor's office, and the court for their work, calling the verdict fair. "We also want to highlight the courage of the girl's mother, who made the right decision. Unfortunately, many families in similar situations refuse to pursue criminal charges. Some relatives even urged not to punish the grandfather due to his age, but he was aware that he had committed a crime. When he was caught red-handed, he tried to escape and cover his tracks before being apprehended by the police. The girl's mother had a difficult time, but she chose her daughter, which was absolutely right. She lost a lot: her family, her job, her peaceful existence. The psychological state of the girl remains complicated, and the mother also needs support, but they managed to endure the trials, and the mother showed her daughter that she is safe," the "NeMolchi" foundation noted.
