In the Uzgen district, an investigation is underway into the tragic death of a two-month-old baby. This was reported by the Osh regional department of internal affairs.

According to law enforcement, on January 21, the Uzgen district police department received a report from a local hospital about the death of an infant, who was born on November 11, 2025. Preliminary data suggests that the cause of death was anemia. The incident has been registered, and witnesses have been interviewed during the preliminary investigation.

“A relevant examination has been appointed to determine the cause of the infant's death. A legal decision will be made based on its results,” the police reported.

In Kyrgyzstan, there have been previous cases of health deterioration and fatalities following hijama (cupping therapy).

According to earlier information, one of the possible causes of death could be hijama (bloodletting). Upon admission to the medical facility, doctors recorded a sharp decrease in the infant's hemoglobin level — down to 43, as well as significant blood loss.

The Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan has repeatedly urged citizens to be cautious and avoid the use of hijama. The agency emphasizes that this procedure is not licensed as medical in the country and there is a risk of infection from bloodborne pathogens.
