The incident that led to the court proceedings occurred in April 2025, and all eight defendants were found guilty. According to Burkhanov,

“Currently, the relevant authorities and diplomatic missions of Uzbekistan are taking the necessary measures to thoroughly investigate the situation and protect the rights of citizens,” he added.

A mass brawl took place at a gas station, resulting in the deaths of two citizens of Uzbekistan: one died on the spot from a stab wound, while the other fell into a coma and died in the hospital.

Previously, representatives of Uzbek diplomacy held a meeting with the leadership of the Dubai Criminal Investigation Department. UAE authorities expressed concern about the increase in offenses involving citizens of Uzbekistan abroad, emphasizing that this could negatively affect the visa-free regime between the two countries.
