Storm Warning Issued in Mountain Areas of Kyrgyzstan: Avalanches Expected

The Hydrometeorological Service of Kyrgyzstan reports that from February 11 to 13, precipitation is expected in some mountainous areas of the country, creating a risk of avalanches and snow drifts. This information has been confirmed by the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES).

The most dangerous areas where avalanches may occur are located on key highways, including:
• Bishkek – Osh: 121–138 km (Too-Ashuu Pass), 198–255 km (Chychkan, Ala-Bel);
• Suusamyr – Talas – Taraz: 1–14 km (Otmok Pass);
• Myrzake – Kara-Kuldja – Alayku: 55–115 km;
• Ala-Buka – Kanysh-Kiya: 45–112 km (Chapchyma Pass);
• Krasnaya Gorka – Ak-Tash: 0–3 km;
• Sary-Tash – Daroot-Korgon – Karamyk: 97–98 km;
• Bishkek – Naryn – Torugart: 292–305 km (Dolon Pass);
• Aral – Min-Kush: 1–14 km;
• Balakchi – Kazarman – Jalal-Abad: 326–349 km (Kok-Art Pass);
• Karakol – Enilchek: 45–90 km (Chon-Ashuu Pass).

Avalanches, snow drifts, ice, and snow-covered sections may occur in the specified areas. Rescue services strongly recommend that drivers maintain a safe distance of at least 500 meters and exercise extreme caution on the roads.

The MES also reminds that in case of any emergencies, it is necessary to immediately contact the number 112.
