President of ADB Masato Kanda familiarized himself with Bishkek's electric buses
During his working visit to Kyrgyzstan, the President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), Masato Kanda, held a meeting with Ramiz Aliyev, the Deputy Mayor, and visited the electric bus depot No. 2. The press service of the mayor's office reported on this event.

The main purpose of the visit was to study the technical capabilities and infrastructure of the electric buses that were acquired as part of the "Electrification of Urban Transport" project.

The Director of the Municipal Enterprise "Bishkek City Transport," Talant Kaparov, provided information about the project, its key elements, and the current progress of implementation. Participants were shown photographs of various stages of depot construction, a 3D animation of the "Pilot Green Corridor," as well as a training simulation for preparing electric bus drivers.

As part of the visit, the delegation also familiarized themselves with the charging stations and new features of the electric buses, including inclusivity for passengers with disabilities.

It is worth noting that in June 2024, local authorities proposed to transfer 100 trolleybuses to the city of Osh. In Bishkek, the contact network was dismantled, which caused serious concern among residents. At the session of the Bishkek City Council deputies on August 29, the transfer of the equipment was approved. Some residents of the capital filed a lawsuit against the city council's decision to transfer the trolleybuses, but the court deemed the dismantling legal. In early April 2025, two electric buses arrived in Bishkek, and another 118 were delivered in May.

The Asian Development Bank denied information about its involvement in replacing all trolleybuses with electric buses, clarifying that there were no agreements between the Bishkek mayor's office and ADB for the complete replacement of trolleybuses with 120 new electric buses.

It was also reported that the decision to remove trolleybuses from urban transport was made unilaterally by local authorities. The Director of the Energy Sector for East, Central, and West Asia at ADB, Chunho Hwang, clarified in his official letter that the project originally planned to replace 95 diesel buses and only 25 trolleybuses.
